Math 1 - two days

The Mathematics 1 crash course is a two day course which provides the student with the tools necessary to tackle many engineering oriented mathematical problems. It will take place from 9:00 to 16:00. The course includes two teaching days in person, a booklet with condensed information about all the covered topics, as well as more preparation exercises to be used at home. The topics covered during this crash course include:

  • Logic

  • Sets and functions

  • Complex numbers

  • Polynomials

  • Recursion and induction

  • Systems of linear equations

  • Vectors and matrices

  • Determinants

  • Vector spaces

  • Linear maps between vector spaces

  • The eigenvalue problem and diagonalization

  • System of linear ordinary differential equations of order one with constant coefficients

During the first day, the tutors will show how to solve by hand exercises which cover all subjects of the crash course. The student will gain insight on how to approach each question, as well as tips to speed up the solving process.

The second day focuses on typical exam exercises with the inclusion of different topics together in the exercises. The student will be given the steps to understanding and solving each exercise seen in the crash course.

Introduction to programming - two days

The Introductory Programming crash course is a two day session which covers all notions in programming necessary to pass an engineering introduction to programming course in python. It takes place from 9:00 to 16:00, on the 13th and 14th of December at DTU SkyLab - Arena. The course includes two teaching days in person, a booklet with condensed information about all the covered topics, as well as more preparation exercises to be used at home.

During the first day, the tutors will go through the following topics:

  • Variable types

  • Working with lists

  • Working with arrays and matrices

  • String handling

  • Classes

  • if / elif / else conditions

  • For and while loops

  • Recursions

and will introduce the students to simple exercises. The second day, the students will focus on solving typical medium to hard exam questions, with coding sessions where the students can ask questions to the tutors. All exercises seen during the crash course will be analyzed and solved by the tutors.

Physics 1, Mechanics - two days

The Physics 1 crash course (Mechanics) is a two day course which provides the student with the tools necessary to tackle many exam type physics problems. It takes place from 9:00 to 16:00, on the 15th and 16th of November. The course includes two teaching days in person, a booklet with condensed information about all the covered topics, as well as more preparation exercises to be used at home. The topics covered during this crash course include:

  • Motion in 1D and 2D

  • Forces and Newton’s laws of motion

  • Work and Kinetic energy

  • Potential and conservation of energy

  • Momentum, Impulses and Collisions

  • Circular motion

  • Rotation of rigid bodies, Inertia and Torque

  • Periodic motion

The course includes two teaching days in person, a booklet with condensed information about all the covered topics, as well as more preparation exercises to be used at home. The topics covered during this crash course include:

  • Homogeneous and Inhomogeneous differential equations

  • Systems of differential equations

  • Transfer functions

  • Infinite series, power series

  • Stability

  • Fourier transforms

The second day focuses on typical exam exercises with the inclusion of different topics mixed together in the exercises. The student will be given the steps to understanding and solving each exercise seen in the crash course.

Physics 1, Thermodynamics + Electromagnetism - two days

The Physics 1 crash course (Thermodynamics + Electromagnetism) is a two day course which provides the student with the tools necessary to tackle many exam type physics problems. It takes place from 9:00 to 16:00, on the 22nd and 23rd of November. The course includes two teaching days in person, a booklet with condensed information about all the covered topics, as well as more preparation exercises to be used at home. The topics covered during this crash course include:

  • Energy transformation between mechanical, thermodynamical, and electromagnetic systems

  • Ideal gas

  • Calculation on microscopic properties of molecules

  • First and second law of thermodynamics

  • Thermodynamic processes (isochor, isobar, isothermal, and adiabatic processes)

  • Work and heat transfer

  • Electric charge, field, potential and magnetic field
